Monarchwing's head lashed up but she quickly fell back with a painful schreech. "WHAT!!!" she growled, not able to make eye contact with her Leader.

Echostar's sides heaved in a deep sigh. "There's nothing else I can do," she confessed, hanging her head. "I know nothing of medicine and neither does anyone else. I'm going to DawnClan later today, alone."
Grimjaw said nothing and just sighed, though it hurt. Not wanting to deal with the pain, he decided to fall back asleep. Or at least try to. He closed his eyes, the darkness surrounding him. What he wouldn't give to be cooled off and running through the trees right now. I'll find those foxes. And when I do, there'll be NO stopping me.

Monarchwing knew how stubborn Echostar was, and her mind wasn't going to change anytime soon. She growled. "Getting the help of another Clan...makes us sound like that soft kittypet Firestar." she spat.

"Another clan?" Hazelkit piped in, seemily appearing beside the leader. Seeing the startled expressions on their faces, she quickly explained with delight in her voice. "I snuck in. Admit it, Echostar," She mewed happily, her tail twitching."You didn't even hear me coming.'

Echostar lashed around to face the kit, her expression not happy. "Hazelkit! I don't have time for games today," she growled at the kit. She felt sorry for the kit though, there was no one in the nursery and Hazelkit was awefully lonely lots of the time. Echostar sighed again and looked at the kit with sympathy. "I'm sorry Hazelkit. I just don't have time to play right now," she said. Her eyes brightened for a moment and she stared at the kit for a few seconds. "Hazelkit, would yoiu like to come with me to DawnClan?" she meowed. She returned her attention to Monarchwing, her eyes narrowing. "What other choice do I have!" she growled. "I'm not going to just sit here and let two of my best warriors die!"

Monarchwing growled, though she dare not raise her voice in defiance. She stayed down and looked at Grimjaw after Echostar left. "Do you think she's doing the right thing?" she inquired.

Grimjaw didn't even try to make contact with the she-cat. He simply let out a small growl of pain and said, "I don't know what's going through her mind right now and I sure don't want to waste my breath arguing with her. Besides, it's not like DawnClan is going to kill here. They're too weak." He sighed and closed his eyes again. "Are you tired?" he ask Monarchwing.

"A bit, I'll let you sleep." a smile crossed her lips, "I'm talking your ears off huh?" she said.
Ratpaw ran after Echostar who was heading to the entrance. "Wait! What about me? Why does Hazelkit get to go I'm your apprentice!" he inquired.

A gleam of interest sparked in Hazelkit's eyes, and she eagerly hopped off after Echostar."Of course I want to come!" She was so carefree, and didn't seem to grasp the severity of their situation. The small she-cat was just happy to get attention, and to get out of the boring camp.

Grimjaw smiled genuinely. "No, not really. It's nice talking being able to talk to someone even though I'm not really talking."
Echostar whipped around and glared at her apprentice. "Because," she growled. "Hazelkit can't take care of Monarchwing and Grimjaw and if I take her with me, I'll be less likely to be attacked. No go and see if Monarchwing and Grimjaw need anything." She whipped back around and began to stalk off toward DanwClan.

Ratpaw flattened his ears and bared his teeth, but said nothing as he slunk to the makeshift medicine cats den. Her swiped at a rock angrily, his pawsteps thundering. He slid into the den. "What do you two need?!" he spat.
Monarchwing was surprised by his vicious tone.

Grimjaw lifted his head slightly, interrupted by his nap. He bared his teeth for a moment and let out a low growl. "Stop stomping around like a badger! I'm trying to get some sleep here!" He had made a mistake in lifting his head and he snapped back to the ground with a thud. "Get out and let me rest," he spat at the angry apprentice.

Ratpaw snarled. "My pleasure!!!!" he screamed back viciously. He pawed even louder, making sure to annoy the tom. "Stupid cats...who needs them..." he muttered.

Grimjaw just growled slightly again before going back to sleep.
Echostar padded through the forest, her eyes locked on the DawnClan border. She looked back over her shoulder to make sure Hazelkit was following and not being distracted. A cold, chilling feeling swept through her and she froze for a second. What if Monarchwing's right. Maybe I'm making a big mistake, she thought. She blinked once and shook herself to clear her head. No. I will not let two of my warriors die. I may be revealing a weakness, but once Grimjaw and Monarchwing are healthy again, I'll step up the patrols and show those kittypets that we're anything but weak. Echostar padded onward, not stopping again.

Nightfrost wandered through the deserted camp, oicking up a megar piece of prey and heading for the Medicine cat's den, where raised meows could be heard. His fur was still dripping, the droplets crashing down and splattering all over the ground. As soon as he stepped into the den, he could tell something was wrong. Monarchwing and Grimjaw were both laying there, their chests softly rising and falling in an effort to evade Starclan. Ratpaw was sulking, and the tom braced himself for the snide remarks that were soon to follow. Setting down his mouse carefully, he began grooming without a word.
