Echostar wasn't done with her apprentice yet. "Ratpaw!" she hissed, sharply prodding him with a paw. "Go get some cobwebs. We need them now." She padded over to Nightfrost who had just come out of the medicine cat's den. "Nightfrost, do you know anything of medicine?"

Ratpaw groaned him limbs aching with weariness. He pushed himself up and slipped out of the camp, his eyes half shut. She spotted a group of cobwebs nearby and gently detached them with his claws. He then placed them gingerly in his paw and hobbled back to camp placing them next to his Leader.

Startled by the leader's sudden question, Nightfrost whipped around. "Umm... A small bit from what i've witnessed. That's pretty much it. I wasn't ever really into herbs... Why?"

"We need to heal these two." she replied, jerking her inisde at Monarchwing and Grimjaw. "If they don't get attention soon, they could be permanantley damaged." Echostar looked at her side. Ratpaw had dropped the cobwebs at her feet. She turned back to Nightfrost. "See if you can remember anything useful. I'm going to go patch them up for now." she said, and headed into the den with the cobwebs in her mouth.

Ratpaw padded up to Nightfrost. "We need to restock the fresh kill pile....there's nothing left." he meowed, flicking his tail towards the flattened ground where, usually, a large stock of fresh kill was placed.

"I know." she growled once she had put the cobwebs down. "You, Blackpaw, and I will go hunting after Grimjaw and Monarchwing are taken care of. Now go get some rest. I expect you to bring back more than 2 pieces of fresh kill." She waved him away with a flick of her tail and began cleaning the blood up and packing the wounds with cobwebs. She would have to send Blackpaw out to get some more after she was done.

'I was talking to Nightfrost' he thought bitterly. He shrugged and slowly made his way towards the well guarded apprentices den. It was underneath a tree, and the holes in the roots were covered sharp black thorns. He squeezed gently into the den, making sure to get a pawhold so he didn't fall beneath the tree and gentle clawed his way down. He settled in a pile of moss, somewhat old but right now he couldn't care less. His eyes slowly shut and he fell into a deep sleep.

Nightfrost sat beside his leader, grooming his pelt. His rasping tounge was taking away the stench of fox blood, which tasted horribly. Before he went to the den, he would have to wash out his mouth many times to get rid of the taste. After he had his black chest cleaned, he turned his head around over his shoulder. A long scratch extended from his shoulderblade to his hip, gleaming with fresh blood. "Hey...Echostar? C-Can you take a look at this?" His normally confident voice trembled as he looked fearfully at the leader.

"Fine," she growled. "Come here so I can see it better." We need a medicine cat and we need one NOW! she grumbled to herself. When Nightfrost sat down she saw the long gash. It was fresh, but then again, the battle ended only a few minutes ago. "Just go wash it out and put some cobwebs on it to stop the bleeding and prevent anything else from getting inside it." she ordered. "If it starts to hurts, tell me."

"Okay..." Nightfrost mewed as he bounded off to the nearby stream. Slowly, he lowered himself into the trickling water, letting the coolness of it ease away the stress of the past day. He rubbed the gash with his paws ever so slightly, gently removing the crusted mud and dirt from his fur. He pulled himself out of the water, his muscles hardly allowing him to. His eyes scanned the forest, looking for the many cobwebs that would be needed to patch up his scratch.

Blackpaw struck her claws against the wet earth furious that her can mates could suffer so and yet there was nothing she could do to help. She winced as mud filled a gash in her paw and she hurriedly licked it clean. Tensely she racked her mind for an idea, anything that would be of use.

Ratpaw tossed in his wake. He wasn't able to sleep...restlessness and anxiety still clung to the air. He sighed and stood up giving his fur a shake and padding out of his den. The moonlight bathed the clearing and the frosty night air stung at his wet nose. He saw Blackpaw in a corner washing her wound he had given her. He winced, feeling a pang of regret and sat down, licking his silver fur and watched the moonlight, wishing he could get the faintest glint of sleep.

The next morning Echostar awoke with pain racking her body. She got up winced as a sharp burn panged in her neck. Licking her paw, she drew it over the wound until the burn had died down enough for her to move more freely. She cleaned herslef until she looked presentable enough and padded warily out of her den. StarClan, please let my warriors be alright.

Nightfrost weaved in and out of a dreamlike state, but wasn't entitled the escape from reality. Instead, it seemed to be the opposite. The day's events kept replaying themselves in his mind's eye, not allowing a moment of true sleep. His body violently twitched, and sunlight threatened to burst into his tightly closed eyelids. A racking pain shot down his back, and his paws ached with weariness. Then something jolted him out of his nightmarish state. It was freezing cold, and froze all thoughts briefly so that he had no choice but to stay there for a moment,. The strange sensation... Seemed to be coming from his paw tips. Blinking rapidly, he quickly adjusted to the bright rays of the overhead sun, and looked down casually to find his paws submerged in the nearby stream.

Monarchwing opened her eyes blearily. Pain shot through her blood and seared at her body and she collapsed back down onto the dirt ground. Her paws were unable to move and she had no feeling on the left side of her face. Her eye was shut by by a goopy discharge that crusted her eye. Her whiskers were crimped and her tail was ragged and her fur was matted with blood and dust. She couldn't do anything but cry, if she didn't get healed...it wouldn't be worth living without the life of a Warrior....
