Yeah...I think I just crossed a line between being just a sort-of anime geek to a full-out anime geek. And it's no thanks to you guys either... Anyways so a few days ago, for some reason I was looking up anime conventions, just to see if they even had any in my area XD And there were! There's one this fall...but the one I'm actually kind of excited for is next March. So I casually brought it up at dinner one night...starting with talking about our Cali trip, then when my dad used to go to sci-fi conventions there a long time ago (what a geek XD) and I brought up that I found out that one of the main voice actors in Fullmetal Alchemist (*coughVIC MIGNOGNA!cough*) was coming to -insertnameofmycityhere- Dad: Why? (is he in town) Me: *awkwardly* For one of those anime convention...thingys. Dad: Well if you want to go, I'll take you. Me: *mini squee inside* Really? Thanks! Dad: Yeah it would be fun!(he's not into anime or anything, so I was like okay?)And he also asked, are you going to dress up? Me: o.o *goes on for a while about how it's already geeky going, it'd be even worse if I did, I'm not that into it, etc. Dad:...why not? So yeah I might embrace my inner anime geek. I just don't know what I'd dress up as xD There's hardly any characters that have brown hair, brown eyes, and are kinda short ( Im only 5'2" :{ ) besides Tenten. Any ideas?

Hooray! We have successfully converted another of them! *evil grin* *pats Leafy's back* Welcome to the club ^^ I'm happy your parents (at least your dad) is supportive of it. I mentioned it to my mom and she went all " ? Why the hell would you wanna do that? People at school are gonna think you're so weird! Plus you have no money for costumes." So you're off to a great start! As for costumes, lots of people don't wear costumes to conventions, so if wearing one seems a little too much at first, it's totally fine. Just go until you think you'd feel comfortable in one I'd suggest converting a friend or too because conventions are sooooooooo much more fun with friends. It's not to bad going alone I would guess because 95% of the people at conventions are uber friendly and you could probably pick up like 20 friends on your first day xD And as for other costume ideas besides Tenten (and I beg of you, don't go as Tenten. She's so useless and not all that pretty xP) I'll find some for ya and post 'em ^_^ But you know, you don't HAVE to go as a known anime person. You can create your own character, design your own Anbu outfit, or just do some generic anime girl. I'm going to a convention in November and I've got a generic little coyote furry costume that I literally threw together yesterday and I might just wear that. So you can be creative too ^.^ The only other characters I can think of right now would be Yuna from Final Fantasy but she doesn't have brown eyes (not that it matters all that much) and Kairi from Kingdon Hearts who also doesn't have brown eyes. And does hair length matter to you? Like, if the character you wanna be has long hair and you have short would you mind getting little clip on extentions or if you have long hair and the charrie has shorter hair getting a hair cut? Or do you just want a character with the same length hair so you don't have to worry about the length? Which reminds me, how long is you hair? That would be helpful. Also, you can go to www.animecharactersdatabase.com to look for someone who looks like you. I wouldn't recommend it all that much unless you watch TONS of anime because the characters they give are often ones from very obscure shows but if you don't care that you don't know anything (or much) about the character you're dressed up as it's a great place to use. Most people I know of only really use it in 'emergencies' such as: 'The convention is in a few weeks or less and I don't want to spend all that much time on a costume but I still wanna wear one' or 'I don't have a lot of money to spend on a costume so I want a character that looks a lot like me'. Hope I helped

Yes, you did help. A lot. I wasn't planning on going as Tenten, as I don't really like her anyways. I was just trying to think of characters with brown hair XD My parents seemed to be okay with it; my mom just looked at me like I was a weirdo. Oh and btw, if people at school see you and think you're weird, that would require them to actually GO to a convention and see you there. So what could they say about themselves? This isn't something I really...tell people about, I guess. It's my little geek thing. I DO have one friend who's into it though; she'd murder me if I went as Kairi. She's her favorite anime character ever haha. I pretty much know the entire Kingdom Hearts storyline thanks to her. Hmm...I might convince my Grandma to make me a Kankuro hat tomorrow XDD I just asked if she had black fabric and told her that I saw a cool hat I wanted her to help me make. Sorry about that. My hair is...*looks at hair* about shoulder length. Just a little bit past. It used to be longer. I think I could always get a wig or something. Those Halloween stores seem to have that kind of stuff. Oh and I see what you mean by that website...I was like...hmm. I don't recognize anybody (except for Ed and Alphonese Elric's mom XDD Just...no.) How many of these have you been too? Just curious.

Seeing me at a convention or not, if any of my friends from school found out about it I would be shunned and labeld as a dork/weirdo. I don't talk about it to them or anything and I keep it quiet. But since I'm not as obsessed as some people are, it's easier and plus it's not like it's the only thing I have in my life so it's pretty easy to hide because I don't get that 'geek urge' to have to talk about it or mention it or anything like that. Since you do have one friend, see if you can get her to go. And use puppy dog eyes when you ask her And that Kankuro hat would be so cool Heck, you could just wear that xD Shoulder length hair is very versitle and useful. Since it's kinda in the middle you can fake short hair and maybe get away with long hair, but shorter woul be eaiser. A wig would be a good investment but only if you plan on wearing it again; either wearing it the same way with the same costume/character or restyling it for another costume/character. And you're right, Halloween stores typically do carry that kind of stuff and, depending on the store, you can find a bigger selection of styles so you may not have to do as much to the wig to get it to look the way you want. Or you can order it offline but I think store bought would be better because with online you always have a range of possible issues like shipping fees, the condition of the wig when you recieve it, time it takes to ship, etc. How many conventions have I been too? Actually, none yet xP I've done my research though and the only reason I didn't go to that last one with Saberstar was because it ended a day before I had to leave for Copenhagen and my mom was worried as it was.

Yeah, me too. I'm not one of those weirdos who checks out practically the entire anime section at our school library then carries like 5 books around. I just use the public library. And I also don't get that urge to blurt out something anime at school. That's what this site is for XD Oh, and I might have two friends. I forgot about the one who got me on a total Fullmetal Alchemist kick (which I am still on...) And yeah, I could just wear that. All I would have to do is buy a Sand Village Headband. I still need to make that hat by the way... I guess I have to decide if I'm going to dress up at all before I start looking at wigs, haircuts, etc, but thanks a lot for the advice! You haven't been to any?! You sound like you're an expert on this kind of stuff. I hope you'll be able to go to the next one.

Same here, except I don't even go to the library. Too many people from school live around me >.> So I just use to good ol' interwebz ;D You know what they say, 2 friends are better than 1! Or the more the merrier. Or whatever lame old saying you wanna use xD Yes, deciding on a costume is definitely the first thing to do. Right next to writing down the convetion date on your calendar, ordering your convention pass, and making sure you have somewhere to stay (hotel or just your house/some relative's/friend's house) You're totally welcome for the advice And I sound like an expert? Really? Thankies :3 I'm pretty sure I'll be able to go to the next one. After all, the last day of it is my birthday *< If you need any more advice just ask/post/pm me I'll be happy to help

YES!!! Let you anime flag wave Leafy!! show it proudly!! Haha, Echo summed it up pretty much. Try to stay to your plan for panels as much as possible, Starry and I went to Colossalcon and I wasn't able to stay to my plan ((too many fun things not enough time)) but I wish I would have stayed for some of the panels. As much fun as it was to socialize, panels are a must! Also, Take plenty of pictures! There are some epic costumes you don't ever want to forget and don't be shy. The people are so so nice and love getting praise for their costumes so dont be afraid.
Costumes, well I have some websites for you if you need more, unless you're making it. Depending on how much time you have, I recommend making them. The quality is better and it'll fit better than the 'custom made' ones. Some characters with brown hair, just listing some from anime Ive seen, Kankuro, Yuna, Haruhi Fujioka, You may be able to pull of an envy or lust ((depending on how dark your hair is)), I'll grab some more if you need more help. *squeal* I'm so happy your finally going to a con. I was like you. For the longest time I hated anime due to my cousins constant Dragonball Z-ing. But When Echo got me into Naruto, I gradually began reading and watching more anime and became a total anime nerd XD
I MET VIC AND AARON!!! OH my god they are the sweetest people you will EVER meet in your entire life!! Is Travis going too?? GET VIDEOS and hugs from them. They are so sweet and kind and love talking haha. Which con are you going to??

I don't think I'll have to stay somewhere. It is in the same city after all. I'm not as crazy as you guys...yet. XD They're definately smaller than the one you went to Saberstar. How many people where there anyways? Just curious. *flies mini anime flag* Who's on this thing, anyways? I never hated anime like you. I was just never into it. You two got me started on Naruto with a random conversation somewhere. Actually, I need to get back into watching those The first anime thing I really got into was Pokemon and only a few years ago thanks to my little brother. I was never into it as a little kid. He just needed help with his Diamond game...and I got hooked on it and starting watching the tv show with him XD Who's Travis? Should I know who he is o.o? And no, just Vic.

...Oh. Wow. The ones around here only get about 500 people if they're lucky. ...He does?! How did I not know that? And I don't think so; there's only going to be a few guests (4 I think? They're too cheap to hire any more. I found out that the lady who did the voice of Marta (the snake camara/chimera) is also coming. The other con I'm looking at is this November and has the guy who voices Kiba. And some other people I don't know. So this should be fun^^

Kiba... lol FLASHBACK Saberstar: You know, the guy who plays Kakashi is probably fat, ugly, and bald... Me: Shaddup. You're wrong. Us:*searching for Dave Wittenburg on youtube and find him* SQUEEEE!!! Saberstar: Let's find Kiba now! Us: *searching* *searching* *searching* *find him* Saberstar: NUUUUUUU!!!! Me: What was that about fat, ugly, and bald? ?? Hmmmzzzz!!!!! KARMA! xD 500 is an okay number. You'll still have tons of fun and still see tons of people and costumes. TRAVIS!!!!!!!!!! *GLOMP* Wear this miniskirt kthx :3 Travis: o.O WTF?! Why?! Me: Cuz I luffs you and you look sexi in it ;3 Travis: .O. K I would recommend a small schedule for a conventin. Write down the panels, signings, etc. that you want to go to and their times and keep the paper with you. There will always be time to walk around, meet people, and see costumes, so make sure to make your panels, etc. Also, bring snacks. Carry a little bag around with granola bars, fruist snacks, a water bottle, etc. You'll be spending enough money at the convention buying anime items so don't waste your money on food. Remember to bring extras in case of a costume emergency. If something rips on your costume, get's spilled, etc. make sure you have something to fix it. Bring a little bleach pen with you in your backpack if you're worried about clumsiness or something. With only around 500 people, you probably won't need that kind of stuff, but their called accidents for a reason. It's always better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. TAKE PICTUES! And remember to bring your camera charger too. If you get mobbed, stay calm and let them take pictures. They will leave eventually xD Ask questions and be a geek and you'll have the time of your life :3

*looks up kiba's va* ...eww.
Bleach pen! Haha, sorry. I just stared watching Bleach a few days ago and that reminded me of it. Oh and I was planning on bringing my camera. It's too bad my little digital ones broken. I'll have to take my new DSLR (Digital Single Lense Reflex) It's one of the big black fancy ones. I I've been saving up for it forever! It was worth it though; I love my new camera. They have anime items there?!? I guess I better save my money. Wait, I think I knew that they had stuff. Thanks again for all of the useful tips ^^
